The Story of Ida Blue
The story of Ida Blue is a journey intertwined with efforts to preserve the unique historical and cultural fabric of Adatepe Village. In the 1980s, a group of intellectuals from major cities fell under the spell of Adatepe's enchanting atmosphere and began purchasing and restoring the village's stone houses. This movement significantly contributed to the revival of the village and the preservation of its values.
Varol and Berrin Civil were among those who fell under this spell. The family, who explored different parts of Turkey and the world whenever they had the chance to escape the busy pace of Istanbul, met Adatepe during a trip to the Aegean Region. The beauty of the village, which was largely in ruins at the time, deeply affected them. The Civil couple, who came to Adatepe at every opportunity, eventually decided to own a house here.
As a result of their research, they came across a stone house known as "Inka’s House," a living relic of the past. This house, owned by Inka Linz, a German citizen who settled in Adatepe in the 1980s, was a special home that had won the affection of the village children and the local community. When Inka decided to return to Germany, she entrusted the house to the Civil family.
Over time, the Civil family also purchased neighboring houses in the village, eventually owning three houses standing side by side. These restored stone houses became not only a retreat for the family but also a boutique hotel, as they felt the urge to share these beauties with others. Thus, in 2015, Ida Blue began welcoming its guests.
"Today, Ida Blue consists of four stone Greek houses, carefully restored to their original form. With 11 rooms named after the natural plants grown in its garden, it offers guests unmatched comfort and tranquility. Each house features special lounges for guests. At the heart of the "Slow Living" philosophy, guests here experience unforgettable moments while enjoying nature, history, and unique flavors."
